1st IMPACT Project Workshop:
HR Wallingford, UK
16 - 17 May 2002

The first IMPACT project workshop was hosted by HR Wallingford, at Wallingford, UK on 16-17th May 2002. The workshop provided the first opportunity for the project team to present the project work programme and also to hear presentations from invited speakers on related work. The first day of the workshop covered the IMPACT Project programme with the second day focussing more on breach formation and flood defence embankments, including flood risk management initiatives in the UK.

Full details of the workshop programme, along with copies of speaker abstracts, papers and presentations are available for download here.

2nd IMPACT Project Workshop:
Mo-i-Rana, Norway
12 - 13 September 2002

This 2nd IMPACT Project workshop was hosted by Statkraft Grøner at Mo-i-Rana, Norway on 12-13th September 2002.

The workshop included presentations / discussion sessions covering all areas of the IMPACT project research (Breach Formation, Flood Propagation, Sediment Movement, Risk & Uncertainty Analysis). The main focus of the workshop was related to embankment safety and performance issues and how each component of this work fits within the overall research program, project aims and objectives and other National / International research initiatives.

The workshop also provided a rare opportunity to take part in one of the large-scale field tests for breaching of an embankment dam.

Full details of the workshop programme, along with copies of speaker abstracts, papers and presentations are available for download here.

3rd IMPACT Project Workshop:

The workshop was divided into two parts. During Day 1, after a review of the lastest achievements in each Theme Area of the project, invited speakers (researchers, practitioners and experts in this field) presented papers on sediment related issues. Day 2 provided an in-depth overview of the benchmarking sessions in three different Theme Areas of the project (Sediment Movement, Breaching and Flood Propagation).

Full details of the workshop programme, along with copies of speaker abstracts, papers and presentations are available for download here.

4th IMPACT Project Workshop:
Universidad de Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Spain
3 - 5 November 2004

The 4th (Final) IMPACT workshop, which focussed on flood propagation as well as providing an overview of key findings results from all research areas, was held at the University of Zaragoza, Spain between 3-5th November 2004.

The workshop was divided into three parts. Day 1 provided a forum for presentation, review and discussion of detailed flood propagation modelling results. Day 2 contained sessions on each of the project research areas to provide an overview of work undertaken and key findings. Day 3 contained sessions on each of the project case studies, along with discussion and review of the overall project findings.
